CSBR Internship Program Kicks Off!

Posted: June 21, 2019

The 2019 CSBR Internship Program kicked off at Lockheed Martin with over 35 students. Students hail from all over the state of Colorado and include areas like Moffat County, Broomfield, Craig, Lafayette, Durango, Highlands Ranch, and Rifle. They are VERY enthusiastic and hopeful about space and our future. One student noted that “Space is our destiny” and the group agreed!

So far, the interns have had a chance to tour Lockheed Martin, Sierra Nevada Corporation, Ball Aerospace. University of Colorado Boulder was also a destination.  The Students above had their picture taken with the SNC Dream Chaser vehicle as part of their facility tour.  During each visit, they learn about the backgrounds and diverse pathways into the aerospace industry – from traditional engineering, to applied mathematics, to journalism, and international relations. Each pathway can land you in the aerospace ecosystem. It is all part of the what makes the space industry work.

There is one more week left and the students are scheduled to go to Colorado Springs to visit the Catalyst Campus and learn about entrepreneurship, an overview of cyber security, Colorado Air and Spaceport, Boeing, and additional exposure to the larger aerospace ecosystem.
