Apollo Lecture Series - Apollo 9

When: Sunday, March 3, 2019
Time: 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
Where: Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum

Robert Goddard’s first liquid-fueled rocket in 1926, the mass produced German A-4 (V-2) during the Second World War, post-war experimentation at White Sands, New Mexico and at Cape Canaveral, Florida, will be examined as the steps that led to Apollo 9. This mission, from March 3rd to March 13th, 1969, put all the pieces together to give the newly completed lunar lander its first test with a human crew in Earth orbit and another big step toward the landing on the Moon.

Join space-enthusiasts Stephen Kelly and Chuck Stout as they outline the history of Apollo 9. The lecture
will take place on Sunday, March 3rd from 1:00 – 2:30 PM in our Harrison Ford Welcome Theater. Interested? Tickets will also give you entry into the museum for the day.

This lecture is part 2 of a series building up to Wings Over the Rockies' Apollopalooza celebration in July 2019 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing and future human space exploration.

Are you a museum member? Admission is FREE but an RSVP is recommended.
